Chibi Chibi Con 2014

Phew! I got back this morning from Chibi Chibi Con 2014.

Chibi Chibi con is a one day convention held at Evergreen State University in Olympia Washington. While this is a bit out of the way for me to go my newly founded Cosplay Club and I decided it would be a fun convention for us to go to as a group.
So I got up at the crack of dawn and loaded 12 girls into a huge van and hit the road!

We got a lost a little bit but other than that our travels were nice and easy. We arrived at the con center a little before noon. We all got into our costumes and started wandering around. The con center itself was rather small, as to be expected. The entire convention was held in the school Library. The main floor held the dealers hall, gaming room, viewing room and relaxation room. I’ve never see a con with a relaxation room before, but it was quite wonderful. There were tons of pillows, blankets, coloring books, and other calming things in this room and there were rules about being quite and respectful and such. We had a few members who were stressed at the con and I was glad there was a room for them to go.

After trying to walk around for a while (I had some troubles moving around due to the size of my wings) I met up with Vince, aka Darkian Multimedia, the founder of Cospix! I’ve wanted to shoot with him for a long time and it was an honor to finally be able to shoot with him. It was so fun and he was so nice! After shooting my group and I talked to him about Cospix.net and all his plans for the site. It’s already amazing and it’s only going to be getting better and better.

Then it was time to go to the cosplay contest! It was held upstairs in the con center on a portable stage. We lined up in the order that we signed up. While in line I met this wonderful Fem!Jack Frost cosplayer. She was super sweet and her costume was beautiful! We chatted for a while and talked about how we both intimidated by each other. The judges soon came by and looked at all our costumes. They seemed very impressed with my Skirt and lights and such. The contest itself was a walk on contest where they played some up-beat music and we walked across the stage. I did some twirls and such and the audience really seemed to love it! I had a friend record it but haven’t got the video yet, once I do though I’ll be sure to post it!  After we all crossed the stage there was some trivia as the judges judged and then they announced the awards. There were a few Judges choice and honorable mentions then the places! The Jack Frost I was talking to before the contest got third, I got second (AHHHH GO ME!) and someone, who’s name I don’t know, won first. She was beautiful and her costume had wonderful detail! They gave us all little ribbons and gift bags full of snacks (yay lunch!). This was my first cosplay contest award! I’m so happy and proud of my work!

After the contest I sat and relaxed for a while. Then I went through the dealers hall, there were less people and it was easier for me to move through. I found one table that had the most adorable My Little Pony Silhouette decals, they were so cute! Sadly they were sold out of Cadence once I got there but I got one for my Celestia and my Twilight. While walking through one of the vendors asked for my photo, I gladly posed then handed them my business card. When I gave it to them they ask if I were a professional cosplayer. That was such a shock! I’m glad she thought that I am good enough to be a professional cosplayer!

After going through the dealers hall a friend and I sat down to look at the pass report and saw that there was a nasty storm setting in. So while we planned to leave later in the night we decided that we should try to start leaving very soon so we could make it home safe. But before that I ran into Vic from Lucid Visual Photography! He’s another photographer who I’ve been wanting to shoot with for a while and it was great to finally be able to shoot with him! We did some really awesome shots and I can’t wait to get them back and show them to you all!

It was around 5:30 now and we decided that we had better get going very soon. So I gathered my group to get going. Sadly we had some complications finding everyone and we ended up not leaving until 8 o’clock. We were able to get to North Bend safely but I’m just not confident enough to drive in the snow at night. So we called one of our members’ family members and were luckily able to stay in their church for the night. We then got up early in the morning and headed home, while it was still snowy on the pass it was easier to drive since it was light out. We made it home around 1:00 Pm today safe and sound!
